Welcome to the Website for the Art Class at St. Barbara's taught by Mrs. Gina DeVeno.
Dear Parents,
"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." Pablo Picasso
I am pleased to be your childs art teacher. I look forward to a rewarding year as we explore various techniques, artists, media, art history and subjects in art. Students will focus on the basic skills in art: elements/principles of design, drawing, painting, mixed-media, and print making. Art is taught progressively, each skill is meant to build on previous skills in someway. Creativity, originality, neatness, design, or composition, and expression are encouraged in all works of art.
This class also teaches your child to be a responsible student. Please stress to your child the importance of coming prepared to class with materials. Also, students should pay attention to demonstrations given by the teacher and the safety rules / procedures in the art classroom. Participation is very important to create success in this class.
In order to ensure the best environment, students will follow these rules while in the art class:
By following these rules the students will receive these rewards:
I am looking forward to another great year with wonderful works of art being created!
Sincerely,
Gina DeVeno
